The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) is the UK's largest professional body for Counsellors and Psychotherapists. At its heart is the message that counselling changes lives.
BACP-registered Counsellors and Psychotherapists are required to adhere to high standards of ethics, proficiency, professionalism and good practice. The BACP’s register of members aims to protect the public and help them find therapists they can trust. The Association works to raise professional and ethical standards within the field and offers ongoing training and development to its members.
As a Registered Member of the BACP, I strive to adhere to their Ethical Framework in all areas of my work.
'The Ethical Framework is designed to help counselling professionals provide clients with a secure base for their work together. It creates a shared structure within which practitioners, coaches, trainees, trainers and organisations can all work, but with the flexibility to respond to the needs of different contexts and client groups' (BACP, 2025).
